In August 1961, the first issue of a new comic book serial created by the team of Jack Kirby and Stan Lee hit the news stands-and changed the superhero genre forever. Maximum Fantastic Four is a visual deconstruction of Kirby’s dynamic visual syntax. The original comic is enlarged (maximized), giving each panel an entire page and transforming a 32-page pulp comic into a 224-page hardcover book.

The author Walter Mosley approached Marvel Comics with this idea. Marvel then approached Chip Kidd to design the book, he told them that he was busy and he suggested they call me.

I have been wanting to work for Marvel Comics since I was 5 years old, so you can imagine how excited I was about this project.
