Whistle the Devil
1991, silkscreen poster
Client: Fells Point Corner Theatre

I moved to Baltimore after graduate school and started looking for a theatre I could design posters for. I found the Fells Point Corner Theatre, a not-for-profit 75 seat theatre. I began designing and silkscreening posters for them, charging for materials only. This ended up being around $100 for 100 hand printed posters.

With each of these posters: I would read each play; discuss the play with the director; and in some instances sit in on a read thru with the actors.

This was the first poster I designed and printed for the Theatre. FUCK...1991. This was so long ago that I can’t remember anything about this play or the creation of this poster other than the artistic director, a lovely lady named Bev Sokal asked if I would put their logo on the poster and I said I couldn’t.
